Practical advice to help you get the most out of your time on ExplicitRP.
Stay In Character
Always maintain your character's perspective during active roleplay. Use /looc only when absolutely necessary for out-of-character clarifications, and keep it brief. Immersion is the foundation of a great experience for everyone.
Value Your Life
Your character should react realistically to threats. If someone has a weapon pointed at you, comply — your character's life matters. Unrealistic bravery breaks immersion and violates the NVL rule.
Build a Backstory
Give your character a history, personality, and motivations before you start playing. A well-developed backstory makes your interactions richer and helps you stay consistent in all situations.
Use /me and /do Effectively
Use /me for actions your character performs and /do for environmental descriptions. These commands add depth to scenes and help other players understand what is happening without breaking immersion.
Respect Other Players' Stories
Roleplay is collaborative. Give other players space to react and contribute to the scene. Avoid steamrolling situations — the best stories emerge when everyone has a role to play.
Optimize Your FiveM Settings
Lower your in-game graphics settings if you experience frame drops. Disabling extended distance scaling and reducing shadow quality can significantly improve performance without impacting gameplay.
Close Background Applications
Close unnecessary applications like browsers, Discord video, and streaming software before launching FiveM. This frees up RAM and CPU resources for a smoother experience.
Use a Wired Connection
A wired Ethernet connection provides lower latency and more stable ping than Wi-Fi. If you experience desync or rubber-banding, switching to a wired connection is the first thing to try.
Start with Legal Jobs
New characters should begin with legal employment to build up funds and learn the city. Jobs like delivery driver, mechanic, or fishing provide steady income and help you learn the map.
Save Before You Spend
Build an emergency fund before purchasing vehicles or property. Unexpected medical bills, impound fees, or fines can drain your account quickly if you have no savings buffer.
Use the Marketplace
The player-to-player marketplace is often cheaper than NPC stores for common items. Check it regularly for deals on food, supplies, and equipment before buying from vendors.
Read the Rules First
Before your first session, read the full server rulebook in our Discord. Understanding the rules prevents accidental violations and ensures you have a positive experience from day one.
Use the Ticket System
If you encounter a rule violation or need staff assistance, open a ticket in Discord rather than confronting the player directly. Staff can review evidence and handle situations fairly.
Introduce Yourself in Discord
Join the community Discord and introduce yourself in the welcome channel. Connecting with other players out-of-character helps build relationships that enrich your in-game roleplay.
